Battle Report (Harlequins vs Questor Imperialis)

Thunderous footfalls dislodged rusted debris, bringing them crashing down to the soiled ground only to be crushed underfoot by the trio of knights as they stalked through the industrial hellscape. Torsos swiveled left and right on their waist axes, glowing sensors shining through the vision slits of their oversized helms as they scanned for targets. A blast from the lead armour’s warhorn reverberated and echoed throughout the manufactorum complex, a challenge and an invitation to their elusive foe.

Nought but the sigh of the wind through creaking ruins and the knight’s own monstrous tread answered it. Auspex screens buzzed like angry wasps, awash with a thousand false returns in the metallic maze. The knights strode on, blind to all but what they could see through their multi-spectrum ocular sensoriums. Their formation changed from wedge to column and back again as the ruins crowded them, weapons always panning, always ready.

A flash of brilliance cleaved through the tension, the visual imprint of the lead knights ion shield faded leaving an afterglow of shimmering heat distortion in the air where the enemies first fusillade had found it. The knights turned as one towards the direction of fire as more lances of energy slammed into their shields creating an interplaying lightning storm before them.

Screaming xenos craft wound their way through the industrial terrain at brake neck speed, in their wake eclectically attired xenos infantry pirouetted and somersaulted their way forward with a perfect inhuman grace. Their foe at last revealed, the knights braced, ready to unleash fire and death.

The team setup another fantastic looking board using pieces from our classic industrial sector. With this being an 8th edition game we wanted to try out one of the new deployment maps, therefore we chose to try out the Spearhead Assault method. The large industrial buildings at least giving some possibility for some line of sight blocking for both sides.

Some of the scenery generously painted for us by our friend John Causton.

Ethan and Mark decided to use the Eternal War mission, Secure and Control today, which meant that both players will be having a single objective within their deployment zone. They then begin to start the alternating deployment and as you might have expected, Mark finished deploying his Knights first. It’s no surprise when his army only consists of three models.

Ethan attempts the seize but it was not meant to be today.

Turn 1 (Imperial Knights)

Mark had deployed his army in a line evenly across his deployment zone and begins his turn by sidestepping all of the knights to the right flank. His aim is to get as much concentrated fire as he can instead of spreading his shots evenly against Ethan’s forces.
