Elnêar cast the runes for a fourth time. The faintly glowing wraithbone leapt out of his palm and began to orbit him trailing its crystalline music of divination. The runes picked up speed, their inner luminosity changing from pure white to deep dark to a menacing red. Their song rose several octaves until its wail transcended even the Eldar’s ability to hear. Elnêar appeared to be surrounded by a crimson field, such was the speed of the runes, his cloak and robes buffeted by winds only he could feel. The gems on his ghost helm glowed white hot as they channelled the incredible powers of his unfathomable mind. Stillness. As suddenly as they had sprang from his hand the runes had come to a stop, hovering in a vertical line before him, Eldar glyphs psycho-projected from within. The runes told the same story, blood and death. Elnêar opened a pouch on his belt and the stones, minus their previous lustre, obediently floated into its depths. Blood and death. So much blood and death. The Mon’keigh were a savage and barbarous foe but the runes singled these out as especially so. The farseer raised an eyebrow, intrigued as to the manner of foe he and his kin would face on the morrow.

Ladies & Gentlemen welcome to another awesome 8th edition battle report! Look at this amazing setup, what a cool table with great line of sight blocking rocks and a very interesting Imperium depot of some kind giving the board some great flavour. Big thanks to Gamemat.eu for supplying the awesome pre-painted terrain and game mat! Make sure you check them out. Today we have Kevin back at the studio, also known as 40knerd on Instagram for those who don’t yet follow him. Kevin’s brought his beautifully painted Heresy era World Eaters to challenge Steven to a great game of 8th edition. Steven dusting off his Sun Blitz Brotherhood Craftworld Eldar off the shelf and getting them ready for a return appearance. With both players ready to start, Steven wins the roll off and opts to start deploying his units first. Lets do this!

Steven finishes deploying first and he had made as much use of the line of sight blocking terrain as possible. He also took great advantage of this abandoned factory silo, deploying his Fire Prism on top of it for the perfect vantage point across the battlefield.

Here, the Windriders set up in the middle of the deployment zone as Steven knows very well that they are fast enough to threaten all edges of the board. He’s equipped them with the standard twin linked shuriken catapults, a huge difference from 7th where all we saw was scatter lasers and the occasional shuriken cannon. The only thing he must keep in mind is that their range is rather short so that movement phase will be very important.

The other Windriders deploy next to the Wave Serpent, good to see these back on the table doing well.

Kevin’s turn now and have a look at that! What a sight, 3 Hellforged Quad Heavy Bolter Batteries, packing a total of 36 shots! Great job on the painting and what an awesome army, can’t wait to see more stuff from Kevin.

On the left flank Kevin deploys his heavy support. A Demolisher along with another forgeworld model, the Vindicator Laser Destroyer!

Two Rhinos take position along the other flank. Inside, we can find a Berserker Squad and a Plasma Havoc Squad. As you may have already noticed, Kevin is a collector of retro tanks, then restoring them to their former glory and fielding the beauties whenever possible. More on Kevin and his Retro Tanks on our Initiative 10 YouTube Interview.

Kevin confidently picks up a dice and locks eyes with Steven, he raises his arm and the dice rolls out across the table… a 6! He seized, Steven looks somewhat less comfortable now.

Turn 1 (World Eaters)

The Captain disembarks from the Rhino and takes cover behind the Rapier Batteries. His rules providing re-rolls of 1s to hit for anybody within 6″.
