Battle Report (Necrons vs Crimson Fists)

The Gauss discharges lit the scenery in a stark strobing pattern, the whine from each individual shot lost amongst the fusillade. Xenos lightning atomised whatever it hit leaving blackened dust and scorch marks where only moments before had stood stout ferrocrete structures. Sandoval braved the firestorm as he rose up from his rapidly disintegrating cover to snap off a three round burst from his boltgun. He noted with grim satisfaction how all three mass-reactive rounds detonated within the centre of mass of one of the numberless Necron constructs. It crumpled to the ground like a puppet whose strings had been cut. No sooner had the Necron warrior hit the ground that an emerald light suffused it, its metal exoskeleton ran like wax as the catastrophic damage was undone by arcane techno-sorcery of this most nefarious foe. It rose, weapon in hand as it rejoined the phalanx it had so recently departed in perfect lockstep. It was a scene repeated all along the line, the scions of Dorn renowned bolter drill felling numerous foes only for them to rise again. Repetition of the same tactics with the expectation of different results was folly, so was it writ in the Codex. Sandoval mag-locked his boltgun and drew his chainsword, “For Dorn and for Rynn’s World! No Mercy!!” His cry was echoed by dozens of  Crimson Fists as they vaulted from their cover to drive at the foe with righteous fury. “NO MERCY!” they roared as one.

Here we go again! Today we have a special treat for all you SN Plus+ fans, we have a new army on the channel! The Classic favorite of any the Crimson Fists. To unveil a new army we thought it was cool to also have something old and so we took out our first ever SN board which many of you that have been with us from the beginning will remember, a true relic in our opinion ;). So here we go fresh off the paint table by Anphiarus on Instagram the New Crimson Fists take on the eagerly awaited first 8th edition Necrons Battle Report! Enjoy!
Steven starts off with a bang rolling a 6 and starts deploying his units first and opting to get his preferred side of the battle board. He starts deploying his forces on the table starting with his big 10 man Marine Squad flanking the right hand side whilst the Vindicator tank is deployed just inches away for some hard hitting support if needed.
Awww man, I love seeing Land Raiders back on the table, don’t you? Steven sets his Land Raider Reedemer, the center piece of his army onto the battlefield taking the center of the dawn of war deployment making sure he can counter any threat on the other side. Embarked upon it is a 5 man Terminator Squad with Thunder Hammers and Storm shield accompanied by the Warlord himself. I wouldn’t want to be in front of this tank when those doors open that’s for sure!
The perfect position. waiting for the enemy days in advance the Scouts have managed to camp up high on the central building, having great line of sight on the enemy and especially those characters. Great work on their camouflage matching very well with the weathered abandoned buildings.
And finally after a 2 year absence on the channel the Necrons are back! and in full force! Max Starts setting up his force placing his Immortals up first eyeing out those Snipers. The Overlord making sure things get done right as he stays closely behind.
A deadly mass of warriors are set up on the right hand flank. The silver tide awakes and is slowly making its way towards Steven’s lines. These big squads will give Steven a lot of trouble if he doesn’t focus fire correctly and bring the whole unit down before he moves onto another. The Doomsday Ark is deployed closely beside in what will be some much needed fire power to bring that Land raider down.
…and finally the Lychguard are set up behind one of the ruins making sure they are completely obscured from the enemy’s deployment hoping to get a movement before they get targeted. With both armies deployed and ready to rock, both player’s roll off with Steven getting the highest dice roll and starting first as Max fails to steal the initiative. Remember no more re-rolls on the steal…. Chapter approved is here!
Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

And Steven begins the movement phase off by walking his first unit of Tactical Marines up the board, looking to get into a prime position in order to open fire in the upcoming turns. I’m in awe at how amazing these Crimson Fists look, an awesome standard of painting!

Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

The Land Raider Redeemer moves up ahead of the army, the massive armoured vehicle looking to lay down some suppressive fire, as well as act as a shield for the stalwart, yet still slightly frailer Space Marines. Following behind, the Combat Squad of Tactical Marines attempt to use the Land Raider as a sort of barricade, providing them much needed support from the Necrons.

Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

The well positioned Sniper Scouts take aim at the Necron Cryptek, their high-powered rifles locking onto the target. Due to having Sniper Rifles, the Scouts are able to target the character, despite not being the closest target. Their precise shots all manage to hit the Cryptek, the sudden impact of the rifles’ ammunition hitting the plates of living metal, warping it slightly, the ripples permeating through the armour, as it begins to recover, going back to its usual shape. The Cryptek takes 2 wounds from the Scout Squad, leaving it with just 2 left!

Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

To begin the Crimson Fist shooting phase, the Land Raider Redeemer fires its Twin Assault Cannon at the Necron Doomsday Ark, dealing the first 2 wounds of the game. Unfortunately, nothing else from Steven’s side was in range or managed to hit, meaning there was not much impact on the Necrons to begin the game.

Turn 1 (Necrons)

Max begins movement for Necrons turn one. He moves up the mass of Necron Warriors, allowing them to get into range of at least the Land Raider Redeemer this turn.
