Battle Report (Crimson Fists vs Iron Warriors)

Katakan’s bionic hand gently clinked as he flexed it repeatedly, a habit that had carried over from its previous flesh incarnation. He had lost his hand after an unhealing gash in his palm had opened to reveal an unblinking blood shot eye. He had severed it that very instant and cast it into one of the smelting furnaces in the bowls of his great companies foundry fortress. The helots that had been unfortunate enough to be near enough to witness this act had followed his discarded appendage into the liquid fire. No witnesses had been left who could relate his weakness. This was the legions way, Iron Within, Iron Without.
He spied movement to his left front, four hundred metres out. It was the smallest irregularity in the terrain and it vanished as soon as it appeared. Katakan’s eidetic memory allowed him to notice the slightest change in his environs. So, the unsubtle gets of Dorn had learned something in then thousand years. Infiltration was so unlike them. Scout units clearing the way through the minefield for the heavy units which remained out of artillery range until they could charge in through cleared lanes of advance… Too overwrought and time consuming, thought Katakan. He’d have cleared the minefields with a rolling artillery barrage, his Iron Warriors marching scant metres behind the detonations but such brutal efficiency was beyond loyalist scum. Let them skulk their way forward, their approach had been detected and already the vox was alive with clipped orders realigning weapons batteries and redeploying squads. They’d find the Iron Warriors ready and waiting.

Welcome to a very wintery themed game, fresh from the quite chilly SN Studio! What a busy few weeks we’ve had recently, with Christmas and New year done and out of the way for another year, we’ve recently given the Studio a refurbishment, with a coat of paint, new decal sticker, and some new cabinets to showcase the team’s and Studio armies. No back to the report, what a treat we have for you today! The gorgeously painted new Crimson Fists army, versus the old favourite Iron Warriors. Getting Chris to step out of his Chaos comfort zone, he’ll be using the Crimson Fists today, his first time using an Imperial army in 8th edition, and facing off against Pardo and his Iron Warriors.
The objectives for today’s intense battle are made up of these red barrels. Contained inside is a highly volatile liquid, a single barrel is enough to level 3 city blocks, so the Iron Warriors are truly looking to wipe this city from the planet.
As the snow settles all around, the Crimson Fists make their way through the ruined city. Finding the first of the deadly barrels, the Razorback crew pull up along side and secure them.
Cursing the snow making them stand out like a sore thumb, the Librarian leads a tactical squad ahead, laying eyes on the next objective.
The Scouts clamber up the side of the nearby ruins and pull their camo cloaks around them, the expert marksmen settle into their elevated position.
Checking their scanners as they move in, the Iron Warriors confirm the Imperial Lapdogs are attempting to disable the bomb by removing the barrels from the city. “Men! We must stop them, we have direct orders to remove this city from the face of the planet!”
The Havocs sling their autocannons across their back to make their way to the highest point, getting a good overview and spotting the polished blue armour easily.
The Leviathan glares down at the Chaos Lord as he issues orders to move forward. The Siege Drill starts to spin into life, cracking the freshly formed ice from the Adamantium tipped drill.
Picking up one of the brand new dice, Steven tries to Seize the Initiative, but he fails on a roll of a 4, and with Chapter Approved now out, no using a Command Point to reroll it. Game on!
Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

With the flames just barely staying alight on this sub zero planet, the Land Raider lurches forward, ready to cook some traitors. Loving the sight of Land Raiders back on the table.

Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

Knowing the importance of holding the centre of the battlefield, the tactical squad marches forward looking for key positions to destroy the enemy.

Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

As the air starts to crackle, the Iron Warriors realize too late the telltale signs of a teleport, as 6 figures clad in Tactical Terminator Armour appear in front of them, Storm Bolters and Assault Cannon are already spewing out high explosive rounds.

Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

Not prepared for the shear number of rounds, half the squad is obliterated as their blood freezes in the air before it hits the ground.

Turn 1 (Crimson Fists)

Pulling their cloaks tight around them to fight off some of the chill, the Sergeant spots the enemy warlord through his scope, and call him out to the squad. In unison, they all take aim, and fire. Spotting them at the last second, the Lord twists to one side, dodging most of the rounds, but one of the rounds manages to hit him in the armour joint just below the shoulder pad. He lets out a snarl inside his helmet as his superhuman flesh starts to heal the wound already.

Turn 1 (Crimsons Fists)

The Land Raider gunner looks at the screen in front of him, and spots the Havocs on top of the ruins ahead. Cycling up the Twin Assault Cannon, it tears chunks of brick out as the rounds try to flush the enemy out of cover. One Havoc takes a direct hit, whilst another seems to get hit, but manages to dodge the shot at the last second. Good use of a Command Point there by Steven. Meanwhile, the Razorback fires two shots at the lumbering Leviathan. One shot goes wide, but the second scores a direct hit removing 3 wounds.

Turn 1 (Crimsons Fists)

Raising their red power fists into the air, the terminators charge fearlessly into the remaining marines. As they close in, the Iron Warriors Lord counter charges in, slaughtering one with his chain fist. The rest of the unit wipe the unit out to a single man, who turns tail to flee rather then fight back, The Sergeant slices the heretic straight down his back, cutting through armour with ease with his power sword.

At the end of Crimson Fists turn 1, they have scored 3 victory points and First Blood.
