Battle Report (Red Corsairs vs Imperial Fists)

Nameless cowered behind munitorum crates that quickly disintegrated under the weight of mass reactive rounds. He threw himself flat and heard the wet slaps as rounds tore into his cohorts and was thankful that the ruinous powers had taken them yet spared him. He lay still and feigned death though the sound of his ragged breathing telegraphed his position to his transhuman masters and foes. An overseer in spike-festooned crimson plate saw him and roared at him to get up and advance. Despite himself, Nameless began to rise, the fear of his Red Corsair masters overcoming that of death. He stepped over the dismembered bodies of his squad mates, their bodies turned to mulch by the large calibre, explosive bolt rounds. They had all been nameless too. They were all anonymous helots under the Gods chosen, branded with fire and driven by pain and hatred. Nameless’ pace began to quicken, he raised his PDF issue autogun to his shoulder and squeezed off a burst at a green armoured giant that was busy blasting apart another group of cultists with unerring accuracy. The rounds impacted against the Astartes shoulder plate, sparking as they ricocheted off the curved surface. Nameless roared his feeble defiance as his would be target coolly and smoothly switched target, his bolter swinging round with the unhurried grace of an expert killer. Nameless’ brain had time to register the muzzle flash the split second before the fat slug detonated within his left eye socket, his cranium evaporated violently leaving a lazily falling pink mist in its wake.

Daemons, Xenos, Heretics and Imperials of all ages, welcome to a special treat brought to you fresh off the play mat at the SN studio! Today we’ve got the mighty Imperial Fists, kitted out in the finest yellow ceremite the Imperium could afford, facing off against the haphazardly armoured red and black of the Red Corsairs. Not only that, but we’ve also decided to show off one of the brand new boards for No Retreat! Let’s get a closer look…
As you can see, the table is dominated by these multicoloured shipping containers having just finished being painted up after Steven and Chris spent a night each building them! As it’s a small game, we’ve decided only to use the table up until the fence line. 4×4 in size.
Taking control of the left flank, the Hounds of Huron rev their bikes ready to zoom up and get into the thick of the fighting. What do you guys think of bikes in 8th then?
One of the 3 units of Cultists take the other flank, backed up by the hulking form of a Maulerfiend. Between them and the Bikers Huron looks over the remaining Cultist squads.
With the precision expected from the Sons of Dorn, they emerge from the containers and spread out, forming a well trained gun line.
The Captain issues the order to his men to hold their fire until the Chaos incursion comes into range. Amazing paint jobs on these guys don’t you think?
With that, deployment is all finished, with Julian getting a +1 for first turn, which helps him secure it. Chris tries to Seize the Initiative, but fails. Onto Imperial Fists, turn 1… Interested in our SN Dice? Then don’t miss out and visit our shop now!
Turn 1 (Imperial Fists)

Looking at the Space Marines below, Julian picks one unit and starts moving them around the stack of containers nearby. The second unit moves up towards the Imperium Statue, whilst the Captain sticks in the middle so that he can provide his Rites of Battle buff to both units.

Turn 1 (Imperial Fists)

Julian chooses to keep his Terminators in reserve for another turn, so it’s onto the shooting phase. The first squad take aim with their bolters, and start blasting the Cultists in front of them. The high velocity rounds easily punch through the poorly armoured heretic humans, as a number of them are cut down in an instant.
