Adrastus spun his nemesis force sword in a figure of eight driving back the Iron Warrior on his right, his vambrace mounted stormbolter unleashed a torrent of fire that gutted a second assailant to his left whilst he conjured warp fire to immolate a third that charged him from the fore, gaining him some breathing room. The third Iron Warrior erupted from the unnatural blue flames, his ceramite plate scorched black and cannoned into him forcing Adrastus to take a hurried backwards step to prevent himself from losing his balance. He’d felt the plastron of his tactical dreadnought armour buckle under the force of the brute’s impact. The heretic astartes recovered quickly and rammed his bolter at Adrastus’ neck seeking to jam its muzzle into the weakpoint at his neck joint. Adrastus tucked his chin in closing the gap between his faceplate and his gorget even as he swung his left arm and its atached stormbolter inwards. Both astartes fired at the same time but whilst the Grey Knight’s terminator armor withstood the point blank punishment the Iron Warriors MK III helm did not and the traitor’s head burst like overripe fruit as the mass reactive round detonated within his brain pan showering Adrastus in bright red arterial blood and pink brain matter. The Iron Warrior to his right saw his opportunity and took it. He swept under Adrastus’ guard and drove his wickedly serrated trench knife into the thigh joint eliciting a grunt that was more surprise than pain from the Grey Knight. The Iron Warrior danced back before Adrastus’ back swing could connect, his now glistening knife held in a reverse grip before him as he circled left forcing Adrastus to pivot on his wounded leg to keep him from flanking him. The Grey Knight’s movements were stiff and his right leg dragged awkwardly as he edged around telegraphing an invitation to attack that the Iron Warrior did not refuse. The heretic astartes feigned right then spun left to ram his knife into Adrastus’ arm pit, a blow that would all but surely pierce his secondary heart. The Iron Warrior had no way of knowing that Adrastus was smiling within his helm. He’d fallen for the ruse. The Grey Knight pivoted on his wounded leg putting all his might into the swing that bisected the surprised Iron Warrior from shoulder to midriff, both halves crashing to the ground with wet thumps. Adrastus tested his leg again, putting all his weight on it. Warm blood pooled inside his boot but his transhuman physiology had already sealed the wound and his mobility was only slighlty impeded. He strode forth to seek more filth to cleanse in the Emperor’s name.

The relic will be represented by this ancient mysterious Grey Knight literature. Whatever knowledge this books contains is unknown, however the Iron Warriors have received Intel that it may contain vital information at the detriment of the Grey Knights, while the Grey Knights are sought to prevent that from happening.
Deployment

Nick sets up his Dreadknight deep within his deployment zone being mindful of keeping it out of the Iron Warriors long range weaponry, while both of the Grey Knight Librarians deploy behind the Dreadknight to offer him their psychic support.

Deployment

The second Dreadknight hangs even further back on the battlefield as he poses the Gate of Infinity power, which he will attempt to cast in the near future to launch a surprise attack on their enemies. Beautiful paint jobs on these guys by our good friend John Causton.

Deployment

The Iron Warriors are not as reserved as the Grey Knights, but rather focuses all of their attention towards collecting the relic as early as possible. They huddle up together in a huge mass of unstoppable metal with their Chaos Lord in the heart of it.

Deployment

The Iron Warriors Leviathan towers over their forces alongside the Chaos Lord gaining the Lords aura for rerolling 1’s to hit, making him an even more formidable target. The Havocs deploy further behind their fellow comrades but within firing range of the Relic for if any Grey Knights decide to get close.

Nick won the roll off to go first, but it was short lived when Steven successfully stole the initiative and, on that note, we head onto turn 1 for the Iron Warriors.
Turn 1 (Iron Warriors)

With all of the Grey Knight forces being out of range, or held back in reinforcements, the Iron Warriors focus on their primary goal of heading towards the relic. The army advances forward, traversing between the rocks and closing the gap between them and their foes.

Turn 1 (Iron Warriors)

The Iron Warriors march towards The Relic, the ancient item within their grasp. Following behind are the Leviathan and the Vindicator.

Turn 1 (Iron Warriors)

The Aspiring Champion gives the orders to lay down fire at the Dreadknights, as damaging them early on will reduce their efficacy later on. Two Havocs are able to draw line of fire at one of the Dreadknights, but unfortunately, fail to wound.

Turn 1 (Grey Knights)

Onto Grey Knight’s Turn 1, Terminators begin to Teleport Strike into the battlefield, landing on the flank of the Iron Warriors, which advanced towards the rest of the Grey Knight army.

Turn 1 (Grey Knights)

The other unit of Terminators also enter the battlefield via Teleport Strike on the same flank of the battlefield but further along, looking to strike the Iron Warriors from the side.

Turn 1 (Grey Knights)

Nick attempts to cast Gate of Infinity on his Dreadknight, in order to move him along towards the Terminators and, to strike the Iron Warriors on his first turn as hard as possible. He fails the cast, but uses up a Command Point in order to reroll one die and…

Turn 1 (Grey Knights)

He manages to get the cast off! The Dreadknight disappears, and, in a split second, is transported to the middle of both newly arrived Terminators along the flank of the Heretical Forces.
