Battle Report (Necrons vs Dark Angels)

Adneichel struggled against the gloom. His transhuman vision availed him nought in the whiteout conditions, the world around him rendered monochrome by the biting cold. The autosenses of his tactical dreadnought armour cycled continuously through various spectra but none offered any improvement, the acid green of low light magnification and the muted purple blue hues of thermal imaging warred with the grey/white murk of his vision. Adneichel dissengaged his autosenses with a thought and willed his heart rate to slow. He hadn’t even noticed how his body had become so agitated, an unforgivable lapse in discipline but not an unexpected reaction to the unnatural stillness that pervaded Astrakhan Prima, or what was left of it. The once thriving city was a blasted ruin, the planets once temperate climate blasted into a nuclear winter by weaponised atomics, but worst of all was the silence. Nothing lived on Astrakhan Prima anymore. Seven million Imperial citizens, uncounted fauna, even microbial life, all obliterated. The Dark Angels search for answers just turned up more questions. The ruin visited on the planet spoke volumes as to the nature of its demise but the vanishing of all life was puzzling in the extreme. Adneichel reached out with his mind, his psychic gifts and years of training in the librarius empowering him with the skill to pierce the gloom in a way that no auspex could. If there was life here he would find it. The city was as cold and dead to his mind’s touch as it was to his mundane senses. The only souls he could feel were those of his Deathwing brethren. The search for answers would have to continue.

Welcome back to another chilly report from the heating-less studio! Returning for his first report in a while, our good friend Shaggy leaves his Astra Militarum behind and brings out his awesome Deathwing for us! Facing him today is Chris once again but with something a bit different. Using the Studio’s brand new Necrons army that we recently bough from our good friend Andy “Dorn” Dickerson from Greeting From The Warp!
Here you can see what all the fuss is about, what these two fantasic armies are clashing over. It must hold some dark age technology or maybe it has some special meaning to one of the armies, or they’re both after it because they think the other one is. Whatever the reason, it’s an awesome little custom Relic!
The secretive Deathwing are first to put boots on the ground, claiming their side of the battlefield.
The heavy thunder stomps of a firepower based Dreadnought provides the back up for the Terminator laden army.
The Immortals use up some of the prime real estate on the front lines, looking to get their stronger weapons into range as soon as possible.
The Stalker and Wraiths control the right flank, leaving the left to the foot slogging Warriors and Immortals. At the end of deployment, Necrons are set to take first turn after winning the roll off, but the Dark Angels attempt to seize the initiative…
And they manage to do it! With thanks to our brand new “I just stole” dice now available in our store! These are different from most dice, as they have the SN logo on 5 sides, and “I just stole” on the 6th.
Dark Angels (Turn 1)

With a thunderous clap, a whole host of bleached bone Terminators appear behind the Necron force, looking to trap the metallic warriors where they are.

Dark Angels (Turn 1)

The rest of the army moves up between the ruins towards the Relic. The Librarian reaches into the minds of his brothers, looking to stoke the fires of their hate to take their foes down, but it’s not quite enough as his power fades. Wanting to redeem himself, he looks upon the Wraiths and casts smite, taking 2 wounds off one of the mechanical beasts.

Dark Angels (Turn 1)

Both units of terminators shake off the after effects of teleportation and scan the local area. Spotting the Immortals, they open fire with their Storm Bolters and assault cannon. Not expecting the attack from behind, 3 Immortals are dropped to the ground.

The Deathwing Champion grips his halberd and charges towards the Overlord’s Lych Guard unit. One of the units of terminators decide to follow suit and closes the gap between them. In a brutal round of combat, 3 of the elite bodyguard are broken and taken out of the fight. Striking back, they manage to wound one of the terminators, but it’s not enough as he’s left standing.

Dark Angels (Turn 1)

Hearing the combat behind them, both the Overlord and Orikan the Diviner turn and counter charge into the Champion, but he turns and blocks their attacks with his Halberd.

Dark Angels (Turn 1)

On the other side of the tress, the Death Wing Master charges into the secondary unit of Lych Guard but this side are ready for him, raising up their shields in a defensive wall that he can’t break through. Waiting for the opportune moment, the Lych Guard strike out with their swords and manage to take 3 wounds off him!

Necrons (Turn 1)

Looking to strike back, the Wraiths move up towards the walking half of the Dark Angels army.
