Battle Report (Necrons vs Minotaurs)

Zharapa the Imperious raised his warscythe above his head and at his signal his undying legions began their methodical advance. The brass armoured interlopers continued their bombardment but it would come to nothing despite their unfailing accuracy. Necron warriors weathered the shrapnel, their necrodermis proof against the razor edged storm. Those caught in the blasts were dismembered by the explosive violence only for their bodies to repair and rejoin the fight in seconds. Necron supremacy made manifest through their overcoming of mortal constraints. The human elites shifted their fire to Zharapa’s position. “Interesting” he thought. Those inferior beings had quickly deduced the only correct strategy. He was the node that kept the legions moving and so Zharapa was the key to victory. His lychguard formed up around him, methodically linking shields to form an impenetrable barrier of both metal and energy against which human fury was harmlessly spent. With a thought the Lychguard began to move in perfect lockstep with their phaeron, their testudo formation as precise on the move as it was whilst stationary. The range closed inexorably, the green orb in Zharapa’s other hand pulsed madly with eerie green power as it resurected the fallen. The sharp crack of the humans primitive hand held weaponry could now be heard as the brass armoured giants began their fusilade. Without breaking their stride the Necron legions raised their Gauss weaponry and returned fire, green lightning whipping forth to disassemble their foes at the sub atomic level accompanied by the ear splitting whine of their capacitors spooling up to recharge for another volley. The humans reacted the only way they could and charged forth from their now seriously reduced cover, feral roars issuing from their vox grilles. Zharapa would’ve smiled if he could feel anything at all. Instead he thought-issued the relevant orders to his warriors and hefted his warscythe, disruptive tendrils of ethereal energy dancing along its cruel edge. The young upstarts would be shown their place.

Ladies & Gentlemen welcome to another awesome 8th edition battle report! Look at this amazing setup, what a cool table with great line of sight blocking rocks and a very interesting Imperium depot of some kind giving the board some great flavour. Big thanks to GAMEMAT.eu for supplying the awesome pre-painted terrain and game mat! Make sure you check them out. Today we have Dayan back at the studio, also known as Mr Space Marine. Dayan’s brought his beautifully painted Minotaurs to challenge Steven to a great game of 8th edition. Steven using the studios newly commissioned Necrons. With both players ready to start……Here we go!
For today’s mission we have placed four objectives around the board. Two of them are found along the middle of the table whilst the other two are situated in either players deployment zone.
These eerie constructs of destruction are deployed as far up the board as possible. The wraiths are itching to get into combat and start flaying whatever they find in front of them.
Most of the army deploys centrally around their HQ in order to most efficiently benefit from it’s buffs, namely that all important +1 to reanimation! Seeings so many warriors gives me the shivers, that slow yet inevitable advance…
These fences are being used as barricades and Dayan doesn’t think twice about taking full advantage of that. He deploys his troops no more than an inch from them to gain +1 to armour save rolls.
We see the same tactic being used, this time however, there is an Apothecary close by for added support. Sticking to this plan could be pivotal in keeping the Necron advance back by means of suffering less casualties.
Turn 1 (Necrons)
With the Necrons beginning their advance towards the enemy lines, their faster units take the flanks hoping to safely diminish some of the enemy number. So many Wraiths, such a scary sight!
Turn 1 (Necrons)
The Necron Tomb Blades shoot out ahead and open fire at the Intercessors closest to them, striking one down to a pile of green ash as the Gauss weaponry electrocutes and fries the marines within his armour .
Turn 1 (Minotaurs)
Donning such short range weaponry the Aggressors move forwards hoping to soon be in rage. Once within their 8″ range, enemies will feel their wrath as they drop in droves.
Turn 1 (Minotaurs)
The Marines here do nothing much more than shuffle about in order to prepare for the oncoming wall of Necrons. They make sure to set up their firing lines so than no man is left with no line of sight to the enemy.
