Battle Report (Ultramarines vs Necrons)

Cold light glinted off dull metal as serried ranks of Necron warriors marched in perfect lockstep. Unthinking, unfeeling and soulless slaves to their Phaeron’s timeless will. No residual spark of individuality nor inkling of self preservation remained within, they were fated to die, resurrect and die again in an eternity of expendability. Their masters, the minor lords, Crypteks and Phaerons spent their lives frivolously knowing that their necrodermis would repair even the most grievous of damage and return their aeons old charges to their alloted place in the line.
Their foes in this fight couldn’t have been more different. The Primaris marines were the newest addition to the Imperium’s vast war machine, mere striplings compared to their ancient enemies. Each a unique masterpiece, the Emperor’s galaxy-conquering design perfected by ten millennia of toil by Archmagos Cawl. Each was a living, thinking and breathing hero elevated far above human capability. They too knew no fear, except, perhaps, the fear of failure. Each followed their orders without question but possessed a fearsome intellect and were able to adapt to changing battlefield situations, versed as they were in myriad ways of making war and more besides. Each fought with the ferocity for which the Astartes were rightly famed but here it was wedded to steely discipline and a razor edged focus. The Ultramarines officers issued concise orders on their secure vox net, analysing every enemy movement, every asset brought forth and countering it with a few adjustments to the disposition and orders of their battle brothers with a calmness that made it all seem a mere simulation and yet the air was rent with the sounds of battle.
A titanic clash of diametrically opposed forces erupted all around. The irresistible force had met the immovable object. Only time would tell which emerged with victory.
