Battle Report (Space Marine Raptors vs Necrons)

Lias Issodon watched the icons on his command display, red for the Necrontyr, gold for the 3rd, 6th and 7th Regiments of the Pugnax PDF, data relayed by orbital auspex arrays.

The Mechanicus exploratory digsite on Pugnax III was lost and had been doomed from the moment that the tech-priest had found those damned artefacts.

The Codex Astartes mandated an immediate counterstrike from orbit, drop pods landing on jungle terrain smashed flat by bombardment and watched over by massed Thunderhawk air support, destroying the enemy through pure ferocity. But Raptors do not spill their brothers’ blood needlessly.

Three small squads had been inserted on points at many kilometres’ distance around the digsite, under orders to fill the airwaves with the vox-traffic of PDF regiments. As far as the Necrontyr would understand, they would be encircled by large formations and should redeploy to meet those threats.

Issodon watched the red icons split into four groups. Each of the “regiments” was being intercepted by a considerable battle force of enemy warriors and machines, leaving the central group relatively undefended. There was never going to be a better moment to strike. He sent a single codeword through the vox net and motioned the brothers around him forward.

In ten minutes, the “regiments” would turn around and draw the enemy battlegroups further away. In fifteen, they would cease all transmissions and melt into the jungles. By then, the Necrontyr leadership would be in Lias Issodon’s gun sight.

Once again, welcome back all to another battle report, held at the coveted SN Studio. The Team have been hard at work recently trying out different layouts for the terrain for the upcoming GT that is to be held in March, and this is one of the formats that they have come up with, providing a perfect balance of line of sight blocking, mixed with open areas for both deployment and combat.

In today’s report, we have the Necrons coming out of their entombed stasis to do battle against Steven’s Raptors, two forces that among the favourites here at SN Battle Reports. Due to the point changes brought about by Chapter Approved, the Necron force has been significantly bolstered, which should play in their favour! As for the mission, The Four Pillars, only troops are able to capture objectives and score, meaning that both players are going to need to play around this, as seen in previous reports on SN. Let us move right on into deployment!
